Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy(PRP)
What is PRP?
Welcome to The Center for Ankle and Foot Care, where we offer cutting-edge treatments to enhance your mobility and well-being. One of the innovative therapies we specialize in is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, a revolutionary approach to healing and rejuvenation.
Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy involves the extraction of platelets from a patient's own blood and concentrating them into a potent serum. This concentrated plasma contains a high concentration of growth factors and cytokines, which play a crucial role in tissue repair and regeneration.

What is PRP used for in the foot and ankle?
In the realm of foot and ankle care, PRP therapy has shown remarkable efficacy in treating a variety of conditions, including:
Plantar Fasciitis: PRP injections can alleviate the inflammation and pain associated with plantar fasciitis, promoting tissue healing and reducing the need for invasive procedures.
Achilles Tendinitis: By delivering concentrated growth factors directly to the site of injury, PRP therapy accelerates the healing process of the Achilles tendon, helping patients recover faster and with less discomfort.
Ankle Sprains: PRP injections can aid in the repair of damaged ligaments and tissues in the ankle, enhancing stability and reducing the risk of recurrent sprains.
Arthritis: PRP therapy offers relief for patients suffering from arthritis in the foot and ankle by reducing inflammation and promoting the regeneration of damaged cartilage.
The advantages of PRP therapy are numerous and compelling:
Non-Surgical: PRP therapy is a minimally invasive treatment option that avoids the risks and downtime associated with surgery.
Natural Healing: By utilizing the body's own healing mechanisms, PRP therapy harnesses the power of nature to promote tissue repair and regeneration.
Personalized Treatment: Since PRP is derived from the patient's own blood, there is minimal risk of rejection or adverse reactions, making it a safe and personalized treatment option.
Faster Recovery: PRP therapy can expedite the healing process, allowing patients to return to their normal activities more quickly and with improved outcomes.

Cost
While Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy offers numerous benefits for foot and ankle conditions, it's important to note that this innovative treatment is typically not covered by insurance plans. As a result, patients opting for PRP therapy should be aware that they will likely be responsible for the full cost of the procedure.
At The Center for Ankle and Foot Care, we strive to be transparent about the potential costs associated with PRP therapy. On average, the cost of PRP treatment for foot and ankle conditions typically ranges between $500 to $750. This cost includes the procedure itself, as well as any necessary medical supplies.
While the out-of-pocket expense for PRP therapy may seem significant, it's essential to consider the long-term benefits and potential savings associated with avoiding more invasive procedures or ongoing treatments for chronic conditions. Additionally, many patients find that the improved outcomes and accelerated healing provided by PRP therapy justify the investment in their health and well-being. When compared to surgery this cost is usually less expensive when you consider your deductible for hospital and surgery center fees. For example, my deductible is $5,000, so I would owe the hospital or surgery center any fees upfront, as well as expect a bill from the anesthesia. PRP therapy is performed in the doctor's office. There is no facility fee and requires no anesthesia. PRP PricingPlease be aware the PRP Procedure price DOES NOT include the office visit or the ultrasound. Most insurance companies do NOT typically pay for PRP procedures. We will bill your insurance company for the office visit (99213 or 99214) and the ultrasound (76681). If your insurance should apply any amount of those charges to patient responsibility (copay, coinsurance, deductible, etc.) then you will be responsible for those charges. The price of the PRP covers the cost of the PRP kits, Centrifuge, processing, Local Anesthesia, and the actual procedure of injecting the Platelet Rich Plasma.
Our team at The Center for Ankle and Foot Care is dedicated to providing high-quality care that is both effective and affordable. Contact us today to learn more and schedule a consultation.
